His research focuses on public policy issues involving labor markets, including overtime pay regulation, the experiences of immigrants, and obstacles to the economic progress of minority groups. Much of Dr. Trejo’s recent work analyzes patterns of intergenerational improvement among Mexican Americans, and one strand of this work explores how selective intermarriage and ethnic identification might bias standard measures of socioeconomic progress for the U.S.-born descendants of Mexican immigrants. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago. Stephen Trejo joined CReAM as an external fellow in April 2006.
